Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 1.13%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.13%, while the MDAX index lost 1.54%, and the TecDAX index lost 3.33%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which rose 2.56% or 1.25 points to trade at 50.04 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) added 2.05% or 1.160 points to end at 57.660 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was up 1.98% or 0.710 points to 36.555 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER), which fell 16.56% or 16.26 points to trade at 81.94 at the close. Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) declined 7.48% or 40.000 points to end at 494.800 and Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) was down 4.86% or 3.860 points to 75.520.

The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) which rose 2.86% to 7.268, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was up 2.73% to settle at 10.520 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which gained 0.93% to close at 34.730.

The worst performers were AUTO1 Group SE (DE:AG1G) which was down 7.99% to 17.11 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 6.31% to settle at 159.500 and Rational AG (DE:RAAG) which was down 6.00% to 805.60 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 4.65% to 31.950, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 1.11% to settle at 137.000 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which gained 0.93% to close at 34.730.

The worst performers were Nagarro SE (DE:NA9n) which was down 8.66% to 163.50 in late trade, Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (DE:EUZG) which lost 8.56% to settle at 81.700 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 7.48% to 494.800 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 484 to 233 and 59 ended unchanged.

Shares in Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) fell to 52-week lows; falling 16.56% or 16.26 to 81.94. Shares in AUTO1 Group SE (DE:AG1G) fell to all time lows; falling 7.99% or 1.49 to 17.11.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 13.22% to 20.04.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.15% or 2.65 to $1800.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.96% or 0.76 to hit $78.14 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.19% or 0.97 to trade at $80.78 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.26% to 1.1329, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8349.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 95.950.
