At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.86% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index fell 0.82%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.74%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which rose 1.15% or 4.20 points to trade at 369.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN) added 0.86% or 1.54 points to end at 179.74 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (ETR:HEIG) was up 0.68% or 0.52 points to 76.64 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn), which fell 2.06% or 0.23 points to trade at 10.96 at the close. Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) declined 2.01% or 0.28 points to end at 13.42 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) was down 1.97% or 0.41 points to 20.41.
The top performers on the MDAX were Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which rose 3.17% to 10.08, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which was up 1.24% to settle at 7.00 and Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which gained 0.93% to close at 114.55.
The worst performers were Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which was down 4.87% to 33.60 in late trade, Encavis AG (ETR:ECVG) which lost 3.93% to settle at 13.32 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which was down 3.86% to 1.73 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which rose 1.80% to 76.55, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was up 1.15% to settle at 369.90 and ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which gained 1.14% to close at 7.43.
The worst performers were Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which was down 4.68% to 32.58 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which lost 3.86% to settle at 1.73 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 2.64% to 75.55 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 492 to 165 and 87 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.16% to 18.04.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.45% or 8.75 to $1,935.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.18% or 1.80 to hit $80.71 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.88% or 1.62 to trade at $84.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 102.99.
