Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.61%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.61%, while the MDAX index lost 0.19%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.38%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 1.04% or 0.355 points to trade at 34.520 at the close. Meanwhile, Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) added 0.87% or 0.43 points to end at 50.06 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) was up 0.54% or 1.15 points to 213.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER), which fell 4.61% or 4.95 points to trade at 102.45 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) declined 3.98% or 3.82 points to end at 92.16 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) was down 2.91% or 7.43 points to 247.82.

The top performers on the MDAX were Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which rose 9.11% to 39.640, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was up 7.49% to settle at 81.800 and Scout24 AG (DE:G24n) which gained 5.58% to close at 57.120.

The worst performers were AUTO1 Group SE (DE:AG1G) which was down 5.47% to 24.20 in late trade, Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which lost 4.80% to settle at 36.860 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was down 3.99% to 9.298 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which rose 9.11% to 39.640, TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which was up 2.90% to settle at 11.55 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 0.75% to close at 134.450.

The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 4.39% to 33.110 in late trade, Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (DE:EUZG) which lost 2.77% to settle at 91.350 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 2.43% to 14.840 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 438 to 282 and 55 ended unchanged.

Shares in Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.91% or 7.43 to 247.82. Shares in AUTO1 Group SE (DE:AG1G) fell to all time lows; down 5.47% or 1.40 to 24.20. Shares in Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.39% or 1.520 to 33.110.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.88% to 28.09.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.11% or 19.55 to $1782.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.83% or 0.55 to hit $67.05 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.32% or 0.92 to trade at $70.59 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.1303, while EUR/GBP rose 0.67% to 0.8545.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 96.205.
