Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.33%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.33%, while the MDAX index fell 0.54%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.21%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN), which rose 1.58% or 0.90 points to trade at 57.69 at the close. Meanwhile, Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR:MBGn) added 1.39% or 0.76 points to end at 55.45 and Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) was up 1.29% or 2.30 points to 180.35 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which fell 4.59% or 19.20 points to trade at 399.30 at the close. Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) declined 3.38% or 1.08 points to end at 30.84 and Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) was down 3.16% or 0.94 points to 28.82.

The top performers on the MDAX were Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which rose 4.79% to 42.00, Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was up 2.59% to settle at 44.79 and Vantage Towers AG (ETR:VTWRn) which gained 0.98% to close at 28.78.

The worst performers were Uniper SE (ETR:UN01) which was down 12.39% to 6.54 in late trade, Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which lost 3.67% to settle at 57.80 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which was down 3.38% to 135.85 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which rose 4.79% to 42.00, Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which was up 2.25% to settle at 54.45 and Vantage Towers AG (ETR:VTWRn) which gained 0.98% to close at 28.78.

The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was down 4.59% to 399.30 in late trade, Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which lost 4.33% to settle at 110.60 and Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was down 3.38% to 20.85 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 356 to 328 and 81 ended unchanged.

Shares in Uniper SE (ETR:UN01) fell to all time lows; down 12.39% or 0.93 to 6.54.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.00% to 26.50.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.59% or 10.20 to $1,717.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.96% or 1.86 to hit $96.56 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.66% or 1.63 to trade at $100.01 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.02, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 106.31.
