Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.19%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.19%, while the MDAX index fell 1.14%, and the TecDAX index declined 2.91%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG), which rose 4.54% or 0.94 points to trade at 21.63 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) added 1.96% or 0.54 points to end at 28.12 and Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) was up 1.82% or 0.63 points to 35.25 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which fell 18.49% or 71.60 points to trade at 315.70 at the close. Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) declined 4.49% or 7.70 points to end at 163.85 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) was down 4.11% or 1.87 points to 43.65.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which rose 3.07% to 27.17, Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which was up 2.41% to settle at 59.60 and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (ETR:HLE) which gained 2.09% to close at 70.90.

The worst performers were Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which was down 8.31% to 29.00 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which lost 7.06% to settle at 113.25 and Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which was down 6.91% to 6.20 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which rose 3.07% to 27.17, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 2.68% to settle at 22.95 and Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which gained 1.55% to close at 59.15.

The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was down 18.49% to 315.70 in late trade, Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which lost 8.31% to settle at 29.00 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 7.06% to 113.25 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 365 to 296 and 89 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.50% to 28.15.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.37% or 22.65 to $1,633.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.01% or 1.65 to hit $83.72 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.98% or 1.78 to trade at $91.81 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.93% to 0.98, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.86% at 112.96.
