Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 2.87%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 2.87% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index climbed 2.02%, and the TecDAX index climbed 2.17%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which rose 8.39% or 4.82 points to trade at 62.27 at the close. Meanwhile, MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) added 7.53% or 9.90 points to end at 141.40 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) was up 7.49% or 0.602 points to 8.640 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG), which fell 0.15% or 0.075 points to trade at 50.075 at the close. Covestro AG (DE:1COV) added 0.32% or 0.100 points to end at 31.290 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was up 0.58% or 0.530 points to 92.630.

The top performers on the MDAX were Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which rose 8.87% to 41.870, Airbus Group SE (DE:AIRG) which was up 8.37% to settle at 58.65 and Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which gained 6.14% to close at 77.80.

The worst performers were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) which was down 1.92% to 89.00 in late trade, Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which lost 1.18% to settle at 21.800 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 1.07% to 117.550 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which rose 5.65% to 92.600, SAP SE (DE:SAPG) which was up 5.03% to settle at 111.590 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which gained 3.92% to close at 86.760.

The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 1.07% to 117.550 in late trade, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which lost 0.82% to settle at 26.620 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was down 0.19% to 36.470 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 551 to 135 and 53 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.89% to 31.90.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.47% or 8.10 to $1727.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.35% or 0.45 to hit $33.70 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.22% or 0.43 to trade at $35.56 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.0894, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.8935.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 99.817.
