Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 2.16%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 2.16% to hit a new 6-months high, while the MDAX index climbed 3.32%, and the TecDAX index gained 4.42%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG), which rose 8.94% or 4.40 points to trade at 53.62 at the close. Meanwhile, Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) added 8.59% or 2.23 points to end at 28.19 and Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p) was up 8.13% or 8.90 points to 118.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn), which fell 6.48% or 0.79 points to trade at 11.46 at the close. Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) declined 0.55% or 1.80 points to end at 324.90 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p) was down 0.34% or 0.22 points to 65.06.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which rose 13.77% to 2.90, Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was up 13.25% to settle at 55.74 and HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which gained 10.48% to close at 23.50.

The worst performers were Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) which was down 4.41% to 10.07 in late trade, Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which lost 2.55% to settle at 61.20 and Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which was down 1.76% to 55.95 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which rose 13.25% to 55.74, Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which was up 8.94% to settle at 53.62 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which gained 8.36% to close at 19.37.

The worst performers were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which was down 1.76% to 55.95 in late trade, Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) which lost 0.92% to settle at 21.60 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which was down 0.22% to 44.60 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 496 to 186 and 78 ended unchanged.

Shares in Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p) rose to all time highs; gaining 8.13% or 8.90 to 118.40.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 9.89% to 16.68 a new 52-week low.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.75% or 14.65 to $1,928.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.58% or 0.44 to hit $76.85 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.39% or 0.32 to trade at $83.16 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.43% to 0.89.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 101.50.
