Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.98%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.98%, while the MDAX index added 2.24%, and the TecDAX index gained 2.11%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER), which rose 14.49% or 6.27 points to trade at 49.54 at the close. Meanwhile, HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) added 5.94% or 2.90 points to end at 51.74 and Porsche Automobil Holding SE (DE:PSHG_p) was up 4.77% or 4.080 points to 89.560 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p), which fell 0.60% or 0.44 points to trade at 73.08 at the close. Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) declined 0.33% or 0.140 points to end at 42.760 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 0.08% or 0.04 points to 47.35.

The top performers on the MDAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which rose 8.08% to 9.042, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 5.80% to settle at 139.500 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) which gained 5.00% to close at 7.664.

The worst performers were K&S AG (DE:SDFGn) which was down 0.48% to 19.865 in late trade, Grand City Properties SA (DE:GYC) which lost 0.26% to settle at 19.39 and Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which was down 0.15% to 38.940 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 6.29% to 31.440, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 6.28% to settle at 13.700 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 5.80% to close at 139.500.

The worst performers were Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which was down 0.33% to 42.760 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which gained 0.19% to settle at 26.370 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) which was up 0.30% to 105.700 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 592 to 121 and 58 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 10.96% to 26.49.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.73% or 13.65 to $1855.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 4.06% or 3.88 to hit $91.58 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 3.69% or 3.56 to trade at $92.92 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.50% to 1.1361, while EUR/GBP rose 0.47% to 0.8395.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 95.995.
