Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.62%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.62% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index gained 1.08%, and the TecDAX index added 2.66%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which rose 5.93% or 20.30 points to trade at 362.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) added 4.64% or 1.28 points to end at 29.00 and Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) was up 4.45% or 2.40 points to 56.28 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG), which fell 2.97% or 1.24 points to trade at 40.46 at the close. E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn) declined 2.33% or 0.23 points to end at 9.65 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p) was down 1.66% or 1.04 points to 61.66.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which rose 4.25% to 26.99, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was up 3.86% to settle at 125.00 and Sixt SE (ETR:SIXG) which gained 3.83% to close at 119.20.

The worst performers were K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which was down 5.68% to 25.22 in late trade, Uniper SE (ETR:UN01) which lost 1.46% to settle at 24.22 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which was down 0.79% to 2.90 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which rose 5.93% to 362.90, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which was up 4.64% to settle at 29.00 and Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which gained 4.45% to close at 56.28.

The worst performers were 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which was down 0.91% to 19.53 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which lost 0.79% to settle at 2.90 and S&T AG (ETR:SANT1) which was down 0.50% to 15.92 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 525 to 157 and 83 ended unchanged.

Shares in E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.33% or 0.23 to 9.65. Shares in Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) rose to 5-year highs; rising 4.25% or 1.10 to 26.99.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.06% to 22.01 a new 3-months low.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.18% or 3.35 to $1,850.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.52% or 0.59 to hit $114.68 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.94 to trade at $115.11 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 101.87.
