Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.40%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.40%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.22%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.70%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn), which rose 3.07% or 4.21 points to trade at 141.23 at the close. Meanwhile, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 2.75% or 0.990 points to end at 36.955 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) was up 2.53% or 3.080 points to 124.660 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which fell 0.95% or 1.400 points to trade at 145.900 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 0.79% or 0.245 points to end at 30.725 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) was down 0.68% or 0.400 points to 58.380.

The top performers on the MDAX were Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which rose 4.01% to 41.240, Rational AG (DE:RAAG) which was up 3.63% to settle at 783.00 and Befesa SA (DE:BFSA) which gained 3.59% to close at 66.40.

The worst performers were Hypoport AG (DE:HYQGn) which was down 2.13% to 477.000 in late trade, Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which lost 1.56% to settle at 61.210 and K&S AG (DE:SDFGn) which was down 0.74% to 14.015 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which rose 4.04% to 190.60, Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which was up 4.01% to settle at 41.240 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which gained 3.14% to close at 54.560.

The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 0.69% to 14.340 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 0.36% to settle at 38.340 and 11 AG (DE:1U1) which was unchanged 0.00% to 26.620 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 524 to 170 and 69 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 15.22% to 16.66 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.26% or 4.65 to $1799.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.60% or 0.48 to hit $80.92 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0.48 to trade at $83.66 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.00% to 1.1593, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.8469.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 93.963.
