Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.36%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.36%, while the MDAX index added 0.98%, and the TecDAX index added 0.09%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Airbus Group SE (DE:AIRG), which rose 4.57% or 4.66 points to trade at 106.74 at the close. Meanwhile, MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) added 3.91% or 6.47 points to end at 172.00 and Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) was up 3.48% or 3.10 points to 92.26 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG), which fell 1.50% or 1.04 points to trade at 68.22 at the close. Siemens Healthineers AG (DE:SHLG) declined 1.41% or 0.90 points to end at 63.12 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was down 0.17% or 0.08 points to 47.80.

The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) which rose 6.58% to 6.233, Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which was up 3.78% to settle at 6.616 and AUTO1 Group SE (DE:AG1G) which gained 3.64% to close at 20.51.

The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 4.58% to 39.400 in late trade, Vantage Towers AG (DE:VTWRn) which lost 1.48% to settle at 32.06 and Bechtle AG (DE:BC8G) which was down 1.34% to 60.180 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 4.24% to 37.360, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 4.07% to settle at 14.070 and Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which gained 2.00% to close at 35.660.

The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 4.58% to 39.400 in late trade, Vantage Towers AG (DE:VTWRn) which lost 1.48% to settle at 32.06 and Siemens Healthineers AG (DE:SHLG) which was down 1.41% to 63.12 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 540 to 160 and 69 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 15.35% to 20.52.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.40% or 7.10 to $1787.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 4.12% or 2.83 to hit $71.44 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 3.73% or 2.67 to trade at $74.19 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1271, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.8504.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 96.555.
