Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.17%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.17% to hit a new 6-months high, while the MDAX index gained 1.44%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.76%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn), which rose 6.55% or 1.65 points to trade at 26.86 at the close. Meanwhile, Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) added 5.35% or 0.94 points to end at 18.61 and Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) was up 4.47% or 8.60 points to 201.10 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn), which fell 1.94% or 3.60 points to trade at 182.20 at the close. Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) declined 1.36% or 0.57 points to end at 41.23 and Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG) was down 1.08% or 1.24 points to 113.84.

The top performers on the MDAX were Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which rose 10.53% to 8.03, Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which was up 9.90% to settle at 127.15 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which gained 8.59% to close at 2.83.

The worst performers were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which was down 1.66% to 59.15 in late trade, Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) which lost 1.61% to settle at 208.20 and ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which was down 1.09% to 18.20 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which rose 14.55% to 78.75, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was up 4.95% to settle at 14.84 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which gained 4.23% to close at 406.20.

The worst performers were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was down 3.41% to 22.65 in late trade, Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which lost 1.66% to settle at 59.15 and ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which was down 1.09% to 18.20 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 445 to 231 and 87 ended unchanged.

Shares in SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) rose to 5-year highs; rising 14.55% or 10.00 to 78.75.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.80% to 18.97.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.23% or 4.40 to $1,880.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.14% or 2.36 to hit $77.48 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 3.11% or 2.49 to trade at $82.59 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.23% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.39% to 0.89.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 102.96.
