Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.15%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.15%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.76%, and the TecDAX index added 1.01%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN), which rose 5.40% or 3.17 points to trade at 61.89 at the close. Meanwhile, BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) added 3.04% or 1.43 points to end at 48.51 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (ETR:DPWGn) was up 2.96% or 1.08 points to 37.33 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Porsche Automobil Holding SE (ETR:PSHG_p), which fell 2.98% or 2.22 points to trade at 72.34 at the close. MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) declined 2.70% or 4.85 points to end at 174.45 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) was down 2.32% or 0.79 points to 33.24.

The top performers on the MDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which rose 13.64% to 24.00, Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which was up 4.07% to settle at 67.80 and Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (ETR:FPE3_p) which gained 3.94% to close at 29.00.

The worst performers were Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which was down 7.44% to 89.12 in late trade, Fraport AG (ETR:FRAG) which lost 3.89% to settle at 48.96 and Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) which was down 2.75% to 181.90 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which rose 13.64% to 24.00, Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which was up 3.21% to settle at 82.00 and Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which gained 3.06% to close at 41.70.

The worst performers were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which was down 5.47% to 47.50 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 2.93% to settle at 11.27 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which was down 1.80% to 42.10 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 356 to 334 and 74 ended unchanged.

Shares in Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.93% or 0.34 to 11.27.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.99% to 33.92.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.88% or 16.31 to $1,842.29 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 3.67% or 3.78 to hit $99.31 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.63% or 3.85 to trade at $102.09 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.23% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 103.95.
