Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.14%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.14%, while the MDAX index gained 0.87%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.22%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn), which rose 6.15% or 0.52 points to trade at 9.06 at the close. Meanwhile, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) added 4.01% or 15.60 points to end at 405.10 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) was up 3.76% or 0.33 points to 9.21 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn), which fell 0.15% or 0.03 points to trade at 16.66 at the close. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p) declined 0.14% or 0.10 points to end at 69.14 and Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN) was down 0.09% or 0.12 points to 141.00.

The top performers on the MDAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) which rose 3.83% to 38.49, Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which was up 3.08% to settle at 33.15 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which gained 2.86% to close at 1.51.

The worst performers were K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which was down 2.28% to 18.67 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which lost 2.00% to settle at 57.78 and Rational AG (ETR:RAAG) which was down 1.48% to 600.00 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which rose 4.01% to 405.10, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 2.51% to settle at 29.82 and Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which gained 2.13% to close at 14.64.

The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was down 2.00% to 57.78 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which lost 1.11% to settle at 32.00 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was down 0.41% to 17.19 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 478 to 204 and 71 ended unchanged.

Shares in Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) fell to 5-year lows; down 0.15% or 0.03 to 16.66. Shares in United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) fell to 5-year lows; down 0.41% or 0.07 to 17.19.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.83% to 22.22.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.46% or 29.30 to $1,972.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 4.09% or 2.83 to hit $72.09 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.65% or 2.72 to trade at $77.31 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 102.59.
