Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.96%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.96%, while the MDAX index added 1.24%, and the TecDAX index added 1.35%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER), which rose 3.74% or 2.54 points to trade at 70.46 at the close. Meanwhile, Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) added 3.45% or 2.93 points to end at 87.87 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) was up 3.31% or 6.20 points to 193.25 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p), which fell 0.97% or 0.70 points to trade at 71.76 at the close. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 0.85% or 0.43 points to end at 49.95 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) was down 0.57% or 0.900 points to 156.300.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hypoport AG (DE:HYQGn) which rose 4.72% to 408.400, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was up 4.23% to settle at 58.120 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which gained 4.13% to close at 7.900.

The worst performers were LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which was down 1.36% to 115.900 in late trade, Rational AG (DE:RAAG) which lost 0.84% to settle at 733.60 and Grand City Properties SA (DE:GYC) which was down 0.66% to 19.43 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 3.88% to 120.500, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 3.18% to settle at 146.050 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which gained 3.04% to close at 29.110.

The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 0.86% to 13.870 in late trade, 11 AG (DE:1U1) which lost 0.34% to settle at 23.500 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was up 0.08% to 24.110 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 520 to 185 and 66 ended unchanged.

Shares in Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.13% or 0.313 to 7.900.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 10.75% to 23.24.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.40% or 7.20 to $1802.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.40% or 0.35 to hit $87.80 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.36 to trade at $88.90 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.1249, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8325.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 96.388.
