Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.82%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.82%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.13%, and the TecDAX index added 0.73%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn), which rose 4.13% or 9.00 points to trade at 227.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn) added 3.71% or 2.62 points to end at 73.30 and Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG) was up 2.66% or 3.08 points to 119.04 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn), which fell 1.23% or 0.14 points to trade at 11.41 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) declined 0.80% or 0.30 points to end at 37.05 and Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) was down 0.74% or 1.40 points to 186.60.

The top performers on the MDAX were United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which rose 5.26% to 20.70, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which was up 4.66% to settle at 6.61 and Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which gained 4.23% to close at 75.20.

The worst performers were Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) which was down 3.66% to 19.24 in late trade, Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which lost 2.91% to settle at 2.51 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 1.10% to 25.26 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which rose 5.26% to 20.70, ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which was up 3.77% to settle at 16.50 and Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which gained 3.47% to close at 18.92.

The worst performers were Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) which was down 3.66% to 19.24 in late trade, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which lost 1.10% to settle at 25.26 and Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which was down 0.32% to 77.25 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 465 to 231 and 64 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.61% to 17.66.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.09% or 20.35 to $1,845.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.95% or 0.75 to hit $78.31 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.68% or 0.58 to trade at $85.00 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.61% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP rose 0.77% to 0.89.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.80% at 103.95.
