Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.74%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.74% to hit a new 6-months high, while the MDAX index gained 1.08%, and the TecDAX index added 0.33%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG), which rose 3.74% or 1.51 points to trade at 41.91 at the close. Meanwhile, Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) added 3.28% or 1.33 points to end at 41.90 and Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG) was up 2.13% or 2.42 points to 116.26 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G), which fell 2.93% or 3.10 points to trade at 102.80 at the close. Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) declined 2.39% or 4.80 points to end at 196.30 and Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) was down 1.79% or 0.74 points to 40.49.

The top performers on the MDAX were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which rose 5.51% to 26.83, Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which was up 5.48% to settle at 8.47 and Rational AG (ETR:RAAG) which gained 4.95% to close at 636.00.

The worst performers were Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which was down 2.24% to 34.00 in late trade, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which lost 1.77% to settle at 28.24 and Stroeer SE (ETR:SAXG) which was down 1.49% to 47.64 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which rose 4.78% to 27.39, Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) which was up 3.17% to settle at 22.49 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which gained 2.83% to close at 21.43.

The worst performers were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 1.77% to 28.24 in late trade, Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which lost 1.27% to settle at 58.40 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 1.14% to 130.50 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 422 to 258 and 80 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.53% to 18.11 a new 6-months low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.22% or 22.85 to $1,901.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.69% or 1.31 to hit $78.72 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.92% or 1.59 to trade at $84.26 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 1.00% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.89.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.06% at 101.84.
