Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.19%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.19% to hit a new 6-months high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.63%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.21%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which rose 2.69% or 10.90 points to trade at 415.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) added 1.83% or 1.03 points to end at 57.41 and Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) was up 1.65% or 0.69 points to 42.59 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe), which fell 3.72% or 1.13 points to trade at 29.41 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p) declined 2.81% or 3.62 points to end at 125.10 and Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR:MBGn) was down 2.70% or 1.86 points to 67.04.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which rose 5.54% to 92.54, Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which was up 5.21% to settle at 35.77 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which gained 4.53% to close at 37.12.

The worst performers were Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which was down 3.94% to 63.40 in late trade, Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which lost 3.19% to settle at 8.20 and LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which was down 2.37% to 72.42 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which rose 8.75% to 16.60, Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which was up 4.53% to settle at 37.12 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which gained 4.33% to close at 17.84.

The worst performers were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which was down 1.63% to 57.45 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which lost 1.33% to settle at 28.18 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 0.85% to 14.64 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 400 to 280 and 82 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.09% to 17.55 a new 6-months low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.22% or 23.15 to $1,921.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.30% or 1.02 to hit $79.41 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.80% or 0.67 to trade at $84.70 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.89.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 101.96.
