Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.02%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.02%, while the MDAX index gained 0.80%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.51%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn), which rose 1.98% or 0.61 points to trade at 31.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG) added 1.72% or 1.86 points to end at 110.18 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) was up 1.63% or 0.43 points to 26.87 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG), which fell 1.89% or 1.60 points to trade at 82.96 at the close. Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G) declined 0.95% or 1.00 points to end at 104.55 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (ETR:DPWGn) was down 0.90% or 0.35 points to 37.85.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which rose 10.64% to 2.46, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which was up 7.18% to settle at 5.85 and ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which gained 6.32% to close at 19.35.

The worst performers were Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which was down 2.78% to 36.00 in late trade, Knorr-Bremse AG (ETR:KBX) which lost 2.76% to settle at 50.80 and Evonik Industries AG (ETR:EVKn) which was down 2.20% to 17.80 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which rose 6.32% to 19.35, Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which was up 4.10% to settle at 28.94 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which gained 3.28% to close at 67.75.

The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was down 2.19% to 46.99 in late trade, Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which lost 1.05% to settle at 70.45 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was down 0.62% to 353.30 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 358 to 299 and 98 ended unchanged.

Shares in SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.28% or 2.15 to 67.75.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.85% to 22.20.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.11% or 2.05 to $1,800.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.07% or 0.05 to hit $72.06 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.41% or 0.32 to trade at $76.85 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.34% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 104.88.
