France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 1.78%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.78%, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.75%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which rose 0.82% or 0.14 points to trade at 16.64 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 0.61% or 0.09 points to end at 13.94 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 0.29% or 0.04 points to 12.49 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP), which fell 5.73% or 6.06 points to trade at 99.74 at the close. Worldline SA (PA:WLN) declined 5.12% or 3.58 points to end at 66.30 and Thales (PA:TCFP) was down 3.98% or 2.56 points to 61.74.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Albioma SA (PA:ABIO) which rose 1.62% to 43.90, Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (PA:CASP) which was up 1.45% to settle at 22.44 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which gained 0.82% to close at 16.64.

The worst performers were TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which was down 7.36% to 5.23 in late trade, Groupe FNAC (PA:FNAC) which lost 6.54% to settle at 40.84 and Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) which was down 6.44% to 13.80 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 484 to 106 and 68 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 9.03% to 29.53 a new 3-months high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.09% or 1.70 to $1906.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.06% or 1.22 to hit $38.63 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.69% or 1.13 to trade at $40.94 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.37% to 1.1816, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.9075.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 93.047.
