France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 1.31%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.31%, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.33%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which rose 1.73% or 0.89 points to trade at 52.26 at the close. Meanwhile, Renault SA (EPA:RENA) added 1.70% or 0.54 points to end at 31.98 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 0.91% or 0.20 points to 22.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY), which fell 5.30% or 1.61 points to trade at 28.76 at the close. Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) declined 4.47% or 2.01 points to end at 42.91 and Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) was down 4.41% or 0.90 points to 19.51.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Mercialys SA (EPA:MERY) which rose 4.52% to 8.33, Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which was up 3.29% to settle at 14.90 and SES (EPA:SESFd) which gained 3.10% to close at 6.66.

The worst performers were Virbac SA (EPA:VIRB) which was down 10.29% to 292.00 in late trade, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which lost 8.64% to settle at 335.30 and Quadient SA (EPA:QDT) which was down 6.83% to 14.87 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 389 to 148 and 94 ended unchanged.

Shares in Virbac SA (EPA:VIRB) fell to 52-week lows; falling 10.29% or 33.50 to 292.00.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.29% or 4.90 to $1,682.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.05% or 0.04 to hit $85.14 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.39 to trade at $91.23 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.00, while EUR/GBP rose 0.69% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 109.50.
