France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 1.20%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.20%, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.22%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF), which rose 3.14% or 1.62 points to trade at 53.18 at the close. Meanwhile, Thales (EPA:TCFP) added 2.33% or 2.80 points to end at 123.00 and Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) was up 0.63% or 0.24 points to 38.62 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (EPA:RENA), which fell 5.48% or 1.61 points to trade at 27.76 at the close. Stellantis NV (EPA:STLA) declined 4.86% or 0.65 points to end at 12.82 and Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) was down 4.82% or 1.01 points to 19.86.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) which rose 3.14% to 53.18, Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which was up 2.63% to settle at 16.95 and Thales (EPA:TCFP) which gained 2.33% to close at 123.00.

The worst performers were Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which was down 8.94% to 13.19 in late trade, Valeo SA (EPA:VLOF) which lost 8.27% to settle at 17.70 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) which was down 5.48% to 27.76 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 395 to 161 and 80 ended unchanged.

Shares in Faurecia (EPA:EPED) fell to 5-year lows; down 8.94% or 1.29 to 13.19. Shares in Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) rose to all time highs; rising 2.63% or 0.44 to 16.95.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.55 to $1,723.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.64% or 2.29 to hit $89.16 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.97% or 2.76 to trade at $95.78 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.22% to 0.99, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 109.80.
