France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.69%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.69% to hit a new 3-months low, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.53%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which rose 2.82% or 2.34 points to trade at 85.22 at the close. Meanwhile, Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) added 2.14% or 0.39 points to end at 18.34 and EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX) was up 1.59% or 1.70 points to 108.35 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR), which fell 3.48% or 0.26 points to trade at 7.16 at the close. Total SA (PA:TOTF) declined 3.32% or 0.96 points to end at 28.06 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was down 2.92% or 0.91 points to 30.25.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Lagardere SCA (PA:LAGA) which rose 32.28% to 20.12, Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was up 20.00% to settle at 3.71 and Suez SA (PA:SEVI) which gained 5.76% to close at 15.05.

The worst performers were Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) which was down 3.48% to 7.16 in late trade, Total SA (PA:TOTF) which lost 3.32% to settle at 28.06 and Coface (PA:COFA) which was down 3.11% to 5.91 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 367 to 201 and 81 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.15% to 27.77.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.66% or 12.40 to $1864.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.30% or 0.12 to hit $40.19 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.08 to trade at $41.86 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.45% to 1.1619, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.9149.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 94.763.
