France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.67%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.67%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.65%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (EPA:RENA), which rose 1.30% or 0.45 points to trade at 35.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) added 0.81% or 0.20 points to end at 24.92 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was up 0.55% or 0.28 points to 51.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY), which fell 2.91% or 0.87 points to trade at 29.05 at the close. Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) declined 2.71% or 6.20 points to end at 222.30 and Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) was down 2.41% or 13.50 points to 546.20.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were ALD SA (EPA:ALDA) which rose 7.84% to 10.46, Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was up 3.47% to settle at 6.98 and SEB SA (EPA:SEBF) which gained 2.51% to close at 81.80.

The worst performers were Gaztransport et Technigaz SA (EPA:GTT) which was down 7.91% to 105.90 in late trade, Compagnie Plastic Omnium SE (EPA:PLOF) which lost 4.19% to settle at 13.96 and Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY) which was down 2.91% to 29.05 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 295 to 252 and 91 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.51% or 27.35 to $1,782.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.40% or 1.92 to hit $78.06 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.16% or 1.85 to trade at $83.72 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.41% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.54% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.67% at 105.21.
