France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.50%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.50%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.36%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which rose 4.58% or 1.49 points to trade at 33.88 at the close. Meanwhile, Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) added 3.45% or 0.63 points to end at 19.00 and STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) was up 3.09% or 1.32 points to 43.91 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Kering SA (PA:PRTP), which fell 3.61% or 25.70 points to trade at 685.90 at the close. Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) declined 3.17% or 43.50 points to end at 1329.00 and L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) was down 2.81% or 11.25 points to 388.80.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which rose 5.67% to 163.90, Renault SA (PA:RENA) which was up 4.58% to settle at 33.88 and Faurecia (PA:EPED) which gained 4.25% to close at 43.86.

The worst performers were Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which was down 6.34% to 386.90 in late trade, Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which lost 4.28% to settle at 105.00 and Kering SA (PA:PRTP) which was down 3.61% to 685.90 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 315 to 256 and 87 ended unchanged.

Shares in Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.45% or 0.63 to 19.00.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.39% or 7.05 to $1820.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.44% or 0.36 to hit $82.28 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.16 to trade at $84.51 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.17% to 1.1461, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.8358.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 94.782.
