France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.44%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.44%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.46%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI), which rose 1.69% or 1.74 points to trade at 104.92 at the close. Meanwhile, Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) added 1.51% or 0.43 points to end at 28.87 and Thales (PA:TCFP) was up 1.16% or 0.84 points to 73.24 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which fell 3.41% or 3.48 points to trade at 98.66 at the close. Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) declined 2.52% or 2.55 points to end at 98.55 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was down 1.74% or 1.03 points to 58.14.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which rose 7.11% to 6.78, Dassault Aviation SA (PA:AM) which was up 6.48% to settle at 89.60 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which gained 4.28% to close at 7.910.

The worst performers were Valneva (PA:VLS) which was down 14.48% to 23.620 in late trade, Amundi SA (PA:AMUN) which lost 4.02% to settle at 70.40 and Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which was down 3.63% to 21.80 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 383 to 234 and 80 ended unchanged.

Shares in Safran SA (PA:SAF) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.41% or 3.48 to 98.66.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.09% or 19.20 to $1781.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.20% or 0.80 to hit $67.30 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.75% or 1.22 to trade at $70.89 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1309, while EUR/GBP rose 0.68% to 0.8546.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.00% at 96.157.
