France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.27%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.27%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.14%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB), which rose 8.25% or 2.79 points to trade at 36.59 at the close. Meanwhile, Renault SA (PA:RENA) added 3.07% or 0.72 points to end at 24.20 and Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) was up 2.16% or 0.27 points to 12.61 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE), which fell 3.81% or 0.69 points to trade at 17.30 at the close. Danone SA (PA:DANO) declined 2.58% or 1.38 points to end at 52.06 and Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) was down 2.56% or 3.45 points to 131.35.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were ALD SA (PA:ALDA) which rose 11.93% to 10.04, Rexel (PA:RXL) which was up 9.02% to settle at 10.52 and Arkema SA (PA:AKE) which gained 8.99% to close at 92.64.

The worst performers were Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which was down 4.52% to 17.13 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 4.27% to settle at 14.340 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) which was down 3.81% to 17.30 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 293 to 261 and 86 ended unchanged.

Shares in Danone SA (PA:DANO) fell to 5-year lows; down 2.58% or 1.38 to 52.06.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.70% to 27.68.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.05% or 0.90 to $1912.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.68% or 0.28 to hit $41.34 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.18 to trade at $42.80 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.1826, while EUR/GBP rose 0.62% to 0.9141.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 93.073.
