Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the lost 0.21%, while the index fell 0.28%.

The best performers of the session on the were EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:), which rose 1.88% or 2.55 points to trade at 137.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Danone SA (PA:) added 1.48% or 1.10 points to end at 75.18 and Hermes International SCA (PA:) was up 1.34% or 8.60 points to 650.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:), which fell 3.50% or 1.33 points to trade at 36.72 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:) declined 2.39% or 0.372 points to end at 15.208 and Societe Generale SA (PA:) was down 2.10% or 0.60 points to 28.16.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:) which rose 3.25% to 12.700, Tarkett (PA:) which was up 2.93% to settle at 15.13 and Vallourec (PA:) which gained 2.44% to close at 2.649.

The worst performers were SES (PA:) which was down 14.72% to 14.45 in late trade, Eramet SA (PA:) which lost 3.53% to settle at 48.33 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:) which was down 3.50% to 36.72 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 352 to 208 and 106 ended unchanged.

Shares in EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:) rose to all time highs; up 1.88% or 2.55 to 137.85.

The , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.91% to 11.69.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.55% or 7.95 to $1461.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.99% or 0.56 to hit $57.36 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.79% or 0.49 to trade at $62.55 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.0998, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8566.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 98.245.
