France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.09%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.09%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.08%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which rose 1.99% or 0.44 points to trade at 22.52 at the close. Meanwhile, Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) added 1.89% or 0.50 points to end at 26.90 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 1.74% or 0.42 points to 24.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY), which fell 1.48% or 1.48 points to trade at 98.86 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) declined 1.36% or 2.90 points to end at 210.40 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) was down 1.19% or 0.72 points to 59.70.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which rose 8.55% to 11.31, Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which was up 4.99% to settle at 20.41 and Air France KLM SA (EPA:AIRF) which gained 4.62% to close at 1.61.

The worst performers were Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was down 22.82% to 2.98 in late trade, Trigano SA (EPA:TRIA) which lost 5.25% to settle at 115.60 and Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was down 4.12% to 2.42 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 293 to 245 and 83 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.27% or 5.45 to $1,987.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.94% or 2.08 to hit $72.94 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.82% or 2.11 to trade at $77.02 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 102.65.
