France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 2.01%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 2.01%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 2.00%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which rose 4.21% or 2.01 points to trade at 49.71 at the close. Meanwhile, L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) added 3.06% or 10.10 points to end at 340.10 and Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) was up 3.00% or 6.40 points to 219.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Vinci SA (EPA:SGEF), which rose 0.80% or 0.75 points to trade at 94.18 at the close. Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP) added 0.90% or 1.40 points to end at 157.50 and AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) was up 1.16% or 0.31 points to 26.70.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which rose 7.21% to 6.60, Inter Parfums Inc. (EPA:IPAR) which was up 6.48% to settle at 55.90 and CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which gained 5.84% to close at 0.61.

The worst performers were Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was down 3.73% to 3.15 in late trade, Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which lost 0.20% to settle at 10.15 and Somfy SA (EPA:DAMA) which was unchanged 0.00% to 143.60 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 389 to 162 and 81 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.07% or 1.35 to $1,826.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.68% or 2.04 to hit $78.27 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.73% or 2.18 to trade at $82.17 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP rose 0.78% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 103.96.
