France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.86%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.86%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.85%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which rose 5.45% or 1.88 points to trade at 36.26 at the close. Meanwhile, Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) added 5.44% or 64.50 points to end at 1251.00 and Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) was up 4.15% or 0.68 points to 17.02 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP), which fell 3.49% or 5.05 points to trade at 139.70 at the close. Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) declined 3.29% or 6.35 points to end at 186.75 and Worldline SA (PA:WLN) was down 0.69% or 0.32 points to 45.16.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Mercialys SA (PA:MERY) which rose 6.11% to 9.80, Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which was up 5.99% to settle at 354.00 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) which gained 5.45% to close at 36.26.

The worst performers were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was down 3.87% to 48.49 in late trade, Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) which lost 3.49% to settle at 139.70 and Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) which was down 3.29% to 186.75 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 413 to 156 and 85 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.83% or 15.45 to $1853.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 3.59% or 3.43 to hit $92.03 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 3.28% or 3.16 to trade at $93.32 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.1359, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.8394.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.36% at 96.013.
