France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.52%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.52%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.68%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH), which rose 3.43% or 27.70 points to trade at 834.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) added 3.20% or 60.80 points to end at 1,960.20 and L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) was up 3.02% or 12.30 points to 419.10 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which fell 0.91% or 1.25 points to trade at 136.55 at the close. Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) declined 0.10% or 0.16 points to end at 160.52 and Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD) was down 0.07% or 0.06 points to 91.94.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Remy Cointreau (EPA:RCOP) which rose 4.35% to 154.75, Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which was up 4.21% to settle at 2.58 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) which gained 3.43% to close at 834.70.

The worst performers were SES (EPA:SESFd) which was down 1.09% to 6.79 in late trade, Compagnie Plastic Omnium SE (EPA:PLOF) which lost 0.99% to settle at 17.07 and Thales (EPA:TCFP) which was down 0.91% to 136.55 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 304 to 217 and 96 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.13% or 2.50 to $1,953.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.50% or 1.27 to hit $83.13 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.13% or 0.99 to trade at $86.56 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.36% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.39% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 102.18.
