France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.43%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.43%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.41%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 5.73% or 1.50 points to trade at 27.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Worldline SA (PA:WLN) added 4.78% or 2.04 points to end at 44.73 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was up 4.09% or 4.36 points to 110.98 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Orange SA (PA:ORAN), which fell 1.38% or 0.14 points to trade at 10.28 at the close. Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) declined 1.36% or 0.39 points to end at 28.26 and Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) was down 1.25% or 1.16 points to 91.59.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which rose 5.82% to 6.07, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which was up 5.73% to settle at 27.70 and Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which gained 5.57% to close at 20.48.

The worst performers were BIC (PA:BICP) which was down 2.26% to 49.36 in late trade, Orange SA (PA:ORAN) which lost 1.38% to settle at 10.28 and Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which was down 1.36% to 28.26 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 400 to 176 and 73 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.45% or 8.15 to $1803.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.11% or 0.10 to hit $88.05 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.09% or 0.08 to trade at $89.18 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.1245, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8325.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 96.415.
