France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.38%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.38%, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.32%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF), which rose 5.81% or 18.90 points to trade at 344.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Danone SA (EPA:DANO) added 5.76% or 3.03 points to end at 55.66 and Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP) was up 3.79% or 2.12 points to 58.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 1.81% or 0.55 points to trade at 29.86 at the close. Thales (EPA:TCFP) declined 1.12% or 1.45 points to end at 127.55 and Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) was down 1.12% or 0.23 points to 20.37.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Mcphy Energy (EPA:MCPHY) which rose 6.12% to 19.34, Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) which was up 5.81% to settle at 344.20 and Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which gained 5.77% to close at 2.75.

The worst performers were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was down 5.06% to 15.76 in late trade, Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which lost 4.20% to settle at 35.09 and Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which was down 2.81% to 11.77 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 307 to 224 and 94 ended unchanged.

Shares in Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.20% or 1.54 to 35.09.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.17% or 3.40 to $1,955.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.21% or 0.21 to hit $101.84 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.64% or 0.69 to trade at $106.56 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.53% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.55% at 100.41.
