France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.30%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.30%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.29%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE), which rose 5.33% or 0.62 points to trade at 12.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) added 3.62% or 0.84 points to end at 24.05 and Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) was up 3.37% or 4.20 points to 128.92 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP), which fell 1.18% or 2.25 points to trade at 189.00 at the close. Danone SA (EPA:DANO) declined 1.17% or 0.66 points to end at 55.94 and Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) was down 0.66% or 0.14 points to 21.03.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which rose 7.52% to 3.06, Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was up 6.46% to settle at 33.64 and Valneva (EPA:VLS) which gained 6.29% to close at 10.26.

The worst performers were Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which was down 2.80% to 18.39 in late trade, Trigano SA (EPA:TRIA) which lost 1.23% to settle at 120.60 and Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) which was down 1.18% to 189.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 352 to 182 and 105 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.33% or 5.93 to $1,819.93 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.31% or 0.35 to hit $111.47 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.18% or 0.21 to trade at $114.03 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 1.07% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.22% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.78% at 103.39.
