France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.27%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.27%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.19%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which rose 3.73% or 4.75 points to trade at 132.25 at the close. Meanwhile, AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) added 2.46% or 0.64 points to end at 26.61 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) was up 2.18% or 17.20 points to 804.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI), which fell 1.11% or 0.68 points to trade at 60.66 at the close. Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) declined 0.83% or 0.18 points to end at 21.02 and Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) was down 0.59% or 0.14 points to 23.77.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which rose 3.89% to 6.27, Thales (EPA:TCFP) which was up 3.73% to settle at 132.25 and SES (EPA:SESFd) which gained 3.03% to close at 6.11.

The worst performers were Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which was down 3.76% to 10.25 in late trade, Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which lost 3.27% to settle at 2.45 and Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which was down 3.19% to 18.18 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 291 to 267 and 80 ended unchanged.

Shares in Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) fell to all time lows; down 3.76% or 0.40 to 10.25.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.45% or 8.80 to $1,982.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.67% or 0.45 to hit $66.48 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.59% or 0.43 to trade at $72.54 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.47% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 103.02.
