France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.04%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.04% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.91%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH), which rose 5.03% or 35.30 points to trade at 737.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) added 3.94% or 58.50 points to end at 1,542.50 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) was up 3.05% or 1.03 points to 34.81 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 2.58% or 1.34 points to trade at 50.64 at the close. Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) declined 1.94% or 1.71 points to end at 86.48 and AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) was down 1.22% or 0.34 points to 27.02.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Trigano SA (EPA:TRIA) which rose 6.80% to 119.40, Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was up 5.99% to settle at 2.90 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) which gained 5.03% to close at 737.30.

The worst performers were Rexel (EPA:RXL) which was down 6.08% to 17.45 in late trade, Nexans SA (EPA:NEXS) which lost 6.03% to settle at 84.10 and Virbac SA (EPA:VIRB) which was down 4.32% to 243.50 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 264 to 257 and 105 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.04% or 18.15 to $1,766.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.89% or 2.26 to hit $80.46 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.97% or 2.50 to trade at $86.75 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 106.89.
