France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.95%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.95%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.94%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB), which rose 3.44% or 2.19 points to trade at 65.79 at the close. Meanwhile, Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) added 3.21% or 6.25 points to end at 200.70 and Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) was up 3.02% or 1.00 points to 34.07 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which fell 1.56% or 1.76 points to trade at 110.88 at the close. Renault SA (PA:RENA) declined 1.26% or 0.43 points to end at 33.59 and Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) was down 1.22% or 2.50 points to 201.90.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (PA:VLS) which rose 7.61% to 17.530, Technip Energies BV (PA:TE) which was up 5.95% to settle at 13.98 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which gained 5.46% to close at 51.80.

The worst performers were Trigano SA (PA:TRIA) which was down 3.31% to 181.30 in late trade, SES (PA:SESFd) which lost 2.26% to settle at 7.11 and TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which was down 1.71% to 5.85 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 342 to 232 and 75 ended unchanged.

Shares in Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.44% or 2.19 to 65.79.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.05% or 18.80 to $1817.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 4.03% or 3.15 to hit $81.38 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 3.56% or 2.88 to trade at $83.75 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.27% to 1.1355, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8339.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 95.715.
