France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.50%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.50%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.52%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (PA:TCFP), which rose 4.47% or 3.38 points to trade at 78.98 at the close. Meanwhile, Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) added 3.07% or 3.30 points to end at 110.90 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) was up 2.78% or 13.65 points to 504.70 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Danone SA (PA:DANO), which fell 1.64% or 0.92 points to trade at 55.26 at the close. Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) declined 1.37% or 1.16 points to end at 83.68 and Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) was down 1.31% or 2.05 points to 154.25.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which rose 9.21% to 46.85, Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was up 5.66% to settle at 44.61 and Thales (PA:TCFP) which gained 4.47% to close at 78.98.

The worst performers were TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which was down 4.27% to 9.42 in late trade, Groupe FNAC (PA:FNAC) which lost 4.41% to settle at 49.04 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 2.77% to 26.365 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 352 to 229 and 86 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.44% or 26.55 to $1866.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.68% or 0.36 to hit $53.34 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.66% or 0.37 to trade at $56.27 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.19% to 1.2106, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.8880.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 90.468.
