France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.28%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.28% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.31%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR), which rose 4.59% or 0.76 points to trade at 17.32 at the close. Meanwhile, Thales (EPA:TCFP) added 2.48% or 2.80 points to end at 115.65 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) was up 2.27% or 0.61 points to 27.47 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Orange SA (EPA:ORAN), which fell 2.21% or 0.22 points to trade at 9.70 at the close. Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) declined 1.33% or 22.00 points to end at 1,629.00 and Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR) was down 1.30% or 1.52 points to 115.32.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which rose 10.11% to 0.77, Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was up 5.88% to settle at 7.20 and Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which gained 4.60% to close at 7.50.

The worst performers were Mcphy Energy (EPA:MCPHY) which was down 4.84% to 13.97 in late trade, Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which lost 2.74% to settle at 20.22 and Gaztransport et Technigaz SA (EPA:GTT) which was down 2.32% to 101.20 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 349 to 189 and 86 ended unchanged.

Shares in Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) fell to 5-year lows; falling 2.74% or 0.57 to 20.22.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.25% or 4.80 to $1,916.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.00% or 0.80 to hit $79.31 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.98% or 0.84 to trade at $84.44 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.89.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 102.17.
