France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.28%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.28%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.26%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which rose 3.60% or 0.83 points to trade at 23.91 at the close. Meanwhile, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) added 1.75% or 15.30 points to end at 887.60 and L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) was up 1.56% or 6.50 points to 423.70 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 2.69% or 0.67 points to trade at 24.04 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) declined 2.27% or 0.89 points to end at 38.25 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) was down 2.13% or 0.62 points to 28.55.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Beneteau SA (EPA:CHBE) which rose 8.43% to 16.46, Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which was up 3.60% to settle at 23.91 and SEB SA (EPA:SEBF) which gained 2.91% to close at 106.10.

The worst performers were Ovh Groupe SAS (EPA:OVH) which was down 3.63% to 9.70 in late trade, Nexans SA (EPA:NEXS) which lost 3.50% to settle at 75.85 and Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) which was down 2.73% to 85.60 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 264 to 260 and 103 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.78% or 15.90 to $2,021.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.50% or 1.09 to hit $71.47 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.24% or 0.95 to trade at $75.46 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.49% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.43% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.54% at 101.82.
