France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.23%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.23% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.35%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST), which rose 4.52% or 1.59 points to trade at 36.67 at the close. Meanwhile, Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP) added 4.44% or 7.60 points to end at 178.60 and Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV) was up 3.78% or 0.32 points to 8.90 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which fell 2.61% or 0.63 points to trade at 23.36 at the close. TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) declined 1.72% or 1.04 points to end at 59.27 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) was down 1.54% or 11.30 points to 721.00.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which rose 8.44% to 1.90, Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was up 8.08% to settle at 6.77 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which gained 6.06% to close at 342.90.

The worst performers were Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) which was down 2.61% to 23.36 in late trade, TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) which lost 1.72% to settle at 59.27 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) which was down 1.54% to 721.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 324 to 221 and 87 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 3.17% or 55.85 to $1,815.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.95% or 1.57 to hit $82.12 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.15% or 1.00 to trade at $87.97 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.99% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP fell 0.66% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.07% at 104.77.
