Although Wu didn’t provide specific details about his new position at Nvidia, according to Chinese media outlet Jiemian News, he is anticipated to assume the position of Head of Automotive Products. However, the source of this information was not mentioned.

Wu had been at the forefront of Xpeng’s initiatives in autonomous driving since 2018, overseeing a team of over 1,000 engineers based in both China and the United States.

Having left his position at Xpeng earlier this month, Wu took to his Weibo account to announce that he had joined Nvidia. He shared a photograph featuring himself, Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang, and Xpeng’s chairman He Xiaopeng.

Companies like Xpeng have been significant purchasers of Nvidia’s chips, utilizing them to enhance their vehicles with advanced intelligent systems. Just recently, Xpeng’s chairman, He, publicly mentioned in a social media update about Wu’s departure from the company that he holds expectations for a continued and strengthened collaboration with Wu in various domains, including the realm of semiconductor chips.

Shares of NVDA and XPEV are up 6.68% and 2.62%, respectively in pre-market trading Thursday morning.
