Some Meme stocks might indeed be meme-ier than others.

As MarketWatch reported in June, it appears that there is data backing up the theory that some bad actors are  experimenting with the dark side of Reddit to create pump and dumps on certain stocks that aren’t really memes at all, but price moves created by bots to have sudden but short-lived popularity on Reddit boards making retail traders and Wall Street pros believe they’re the real thing.

On this debut episode of MemeMarkets, we walk you through how these bad actors do what they do, how they get away with it, and how you might get tricked if you’re not paying attention.

We also talk to Travis Rehl, founder of internet database HypeEquity about how you can see what’s real and what’s fake in the wild world of “stonks.”
