Electronic Arts Surges, Then Slumps on Amazon Takeover Rumors

Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:EA) is back in the rumor mill Friday, with shares surging more than 14% at one point in pre-open trading Friday on rumors Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) could be interested in a takeover of the video game maker. In the recent past rumors have put Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) as the buyer.

Today, an obscure website named Good Luck Have Fun was out with the Amazon rumor.

Good Luck Have Fun said their sources told them that Amazon will announce today that it has put in a formal offer to acquire Electronic Arts.

The rumor seems iffy at best and CNBC is already batting down the rumors, saying their sources said Amazon is not expected to make a bid for EA.

EA has already given back much of those pre-open gains. Shares last traded up just 2.7%.
