Dow futures trade flat, Powell’s speech in focus

Investing.com – U.S. stock futures were trading flat during Tuesday’s evening deals following a mixed regular session as market participants await a key speech from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell for further clues into the path of future rate hikes.

By 6:25pm ET (11:25pm GMT) Dow Jones Futures and S&P 500 Futures were steady while Nasdaq 100 Futures eased 0.1%.

In extended deals, Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co (NYSE:HPE) reported Q4 EPS of 57 cents, in line with expectations, on revenue of $7.87 billion versus $7.4B expected.

Ahead in Wednesday’s session, investors will be focusing on ADP private payrolls, JOLTS Job Openings and pending home sales data, as well as the Federal Reserve’s Beige Book.

On the earnings front, results from Petco Health and Wellness Company Inc (NASDAQ:WOOF), Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM) and Five Below Inc (NASDAQ:FIVE) will be closely monitored.

During Tuesday’s regular trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average finished little changed at 33,852.5, the the S&P 500 fell 6.3 points or 0.2% to 3,957.6 and the NASDAQ Composite dipped 65.7 points or 0.6% to 10,983.8.

On the bond markets, United States 10-Year rates were at 3.75%.
