Australia stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 down 2.02%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 lost 2.02% to hit a new 1-month low.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were A2 Milk Company Ltd (ASX:A2M), which rose 2.70% or 0.15 points to trade at 5.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Perenti Global Ltd (ASX:PRN) added 1.92% or 0.02 points to end at 0.80 and Polynovo Ltd (ASX:PNV) was up 1.91% or 0.03 points to 1.34 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Pointsbet Holdings Ltd (ASX:PBH), which fell 15.86% or 0.46 points to trade at 2.44 at the close. Ramelius Resources Ltd (ASX:RMS) declined 9.26% or 0.08 points to end at 0.74 and Perseus Mining Ltd (ASX:PRU) was down 8.57% or 0.14 points to 1.44.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 941 to 404 and 372 ended unchanged.

Shares in Ramelius Resources Ltd (ASX:RMS) fell to 3-years lows; losing 9.26% or 0.08 to 0.74.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 5.00% to 15.91.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.56% or 9.70 to $1,716.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.86% or 0.77 to hit $88.78 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.79% or 0.76 to trade at $94.88 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 0.68, while AUD/JPY rose 0.10% to 95.13.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 108.94.
