Australia stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 down 0.16%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.16%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Hub24 Ltd (ASX:HUB), which rose 3.89% or 0.93 points to trade at 24.83 at the close. Meanwhile, Orora Ltd (ASX:ORA) added 3.37% or 0.13 points to end at 3.99 and Virgin Money PLC (ASX:VUK) was up 3.01% or 0.09 points to 3.08 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were ARB Corporation Ltd (ASX:ARB), which fell 11.18% or 4.23 points to trade at 33.61 at the close. Zip Co Ltd (ASX:ZIP) declined 10.82% or 0.13 points to end at 1.03 and Costa Group Holdings Ltd (ASX:CGC) was down 6.86% or 0.21 points to 2.85.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 1060 to 452 and 340 ended unchanged.

Shares in ARB Corporation Ltd (ASX:ARB) fell to 52-week lows; losing 11.18% or 4.23 to 33.61.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 2.08% to 16.93.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.03% or 0.51 to $1,871.11 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.94% or 3.01 to hit $105.42 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.80% or 2.94 to trade at $107.91 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 0.71, while AUD/JPY rose 0.22% to 92.50.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 103.48.
