Australia stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 down 0.14%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.14%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Nufarm Ltd (ASX:NUF), which rose 20.22% or 0.94 points to trade at 5.59 at the close. Meanwhile, Insignia Financial Ltd (ASX:IFL) added 4.36% or 0.16 points to end at 3.83 and Fortescue Metals Group Ltd (ASX:FMG) was up 3.27% or 0.670 points to 21.130 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zip Co Ltd (ASX:Z1P), which fell 9.63% or 0.31 points to trade at 2.91 at the close. Wisetech Global Ltd (ASX:WTC) declined 7.97% or 3.69 points to end at 42.59 and Nuix Ltd (ASX:NXL) was down 7.82% or 0.12 points to 1.42.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 902 to 522 and 372 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 7.95% to 15.750.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.30% or 5.50 to $1804.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.51% or 0.45 to hit $87.81 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.36 to trade at $89.11 a barrel.

AUD/USD was down 0.17% to 0.7124, while AUD/JPY fell 0.02% to 81.64.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 96.105.
