Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.86%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.86%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were EML Payments Ltd (ASX:EML), which rose 7.87% or 0.04 points to trade at 0.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Perenti Global Ltd (ASX:PRN) added 7.54% or 0.08 points to end at 1.07 and Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:RSG) was up 6.78% or 0.02 points to 0.32 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Appen Ltd (ASX:APX), which fell 4.03% or 0.11 points to trade at 2.62 at the close. Nuix Ltd (ASX:NXL) declined 3.26% or 0.04 points to end at 1.04 and Evolution Mining Ltd (ASX:EVN) was down 3.20% or 0.09 points to 2.72.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 703 to 517 and 375 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 12.23% to 14.37.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.43% or 8.25 to $1,902.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.29% or 0.92 to hit $72.25 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.21% or 0.94 to trade at $78.39 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 0.67, while AUD/JPY rose 0.54% to 90.14.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 103.33.
